The main factor in taking this decision was we considered it to be the best way to participate in international commerce.
The tariff differential in income tax.
The ability to acquire equipment, to import equipment without duties.
The procedure facilities to import and export.
Our improved image by being in the FTZ because we have been through a selection process resulting in a respectable and credible image for international markets.
The FTZ are important for the development of industry and to attract foreign investment. I want my company to be attractive to foreign investment and this is easier from a FTZ.
The differential tariff in income tax.
The ability to develop operations with local and imported supplies with tax benefits for those that are imported, allowing us to offer a better price to our final foreign consumers.
Better logistics by being in a FTZ. We are very close to Buenaventura port and there are less procedures exporting than importing.
The FTZs are very important for the country´s economy. This is the time for Colombia to look for alternatives to the supply of oil; I think this is easier with places like the FTZ to develop industry.
The legal stability provided by a FTZ because we can project in the short to medium term the return of investment. The FTZ also allows access to foreign technology allowing us to finish high quality products for local and international markets.
The generation of quality employment. All the companies within the FTZ have a social consciousness and through the Foundations partners we contribute to the social destiny of the region. The FTZs are interested in the companies and give training in taxes, the regime and also new international trade theories allowing business to learn the knowledge not easily available.
I feel very proud to be part of the regime in generating employment. Like the employees, we are concerned to generate quality jobs for the benefit of them and their families. We have a policy of treating the workforce well with fair salaries, appropriate shifts and support with the development of recreational, cultural and social activities. We also have environmental training programmes such as recycling and the appropriate use of energy.
With regard to the working environment we have created a high academic level in our work process; if they wish they can continue their studies within the company and should they leave they will be able to retain this knowledge in their future careers to the benefit of companies and the region.
We contribute to the region by paying taxes and fulfilling our obligations making our company friendly and grateful to the region.
The FTZ allows us to have a better cash flow and we use this by investing in new technology, machinery and equipment. Also, by not having to pay taxes for primary materials there is an economic benefit for the company.
By being part of an FTZ we enjoy a nice and safe working environment. The FTZ is concerned about our company and our staff. Thanks to the FTZ Palmaseca the region has benefitted through quality employees resulting in the social development of this community.
In our particular case we act as a conduit to access Free Trade Agreements markets for our partners not able to access them themselves, enabling them to access American markets and the Pacific Agreement for example, which are very interesting markets. Currently ACELFLEX is working on a biodegradable packing line of yucca polymer, a new technology that is innovative and totally environmentally friendly. For us this process, exploring and developing new markets, is made easier by working in the FTZ.
I think that the most important fact relates to the employment of direct and indirect quality employees. Another important fact is that the FTZ and my company are contributing to and benefitting from the growth of the region. It is important that the region see the FTZ not just as a tax exemption place but also as a generator of development.
