  1. What was the determining factor for you to take the decision to participate in the Free Trade Zone?

The FTZ is a unique and versatile logistical platform that allows our clients to reach their clients in the least possible time, because they are able to stock their merchandise in Colombia and sell to the rest of the world or to import according to market demands and laws of each country.

  1. Point out 5 factors how the Free Trade Zone helps to increase the exportation of your products or services.

Suspension of duties whilst goods are in the FTZ allowing us to be well positioned to re-dispatch to the rest of the world.

Ability to carry out quality inspections of the cargo prior to dispatch to clients.

Managing the merchandise of companies not operating in Colombia to quickly supply the South American market.

Ability to adapt the cargo to the countries requirements prior to their arrival at country of final destiny (labelling, packing, instruction manuals in local language).

  1. Why do you consider the Free Trade Zones generate development and investment?

The FTZ regime has several benefits that are very important to start company operations. To be successful requires a great economic effort, it is shown that when you have support you have a solid base to succeed and more stability over the long term.

The ability to generate an attractive offer to capture the attention of international companies and encourage them to join the FTZ bringing knowledge exchange, investment and most important, new employees for the region.

  1. Since being in the Free Trade Zone what are the most important benefits that you have given to the region?

The tax benefits allow us more financial muscle which in turn we are able to use for social programmes for our workers such as extraordinary bonuses, productivity bonuses, support in house purchases, 50% study support and $1 peso contribution for each $1 peso saved among others.

In the same way we support not for profit organisations such as Corporozo, the League against Epilepsy- Helena Nader de Zaccour and tennis promoters for the American Society that run tennis tournaments for girls from a poor background, all working to support children.

  1. What economic and social benefits has the Free Trade Zone contributed to your company and the region?

Being in a FTZ puts our company and the region in the eyes of the world.

We receive cargo from countries such as France, Mexico, China, Thailand, Indonesia, United States, countries in Central and South America among others. All cargo we receive is stamped with our name, FTZ and city, allowing us to be recognised in distant cities and to be considered for business.

The ability to generate new employment and improve the quality of life for families. Their children can have a better education and in this way we contribute to improving the country.

Another aspect is the training programmes provided by the FTZ Palmaseca in partnership with SENA for our employees for free during work time.

  1. What benefits would you have by being in a FTZ with respect to free trade agreements?

The Free Commerce Agreement gives impulse to local production and the possibility to have primary materials at competitive prices that will benefit the Colombian consumer at the same time encouraging companies to trade with external markets.

Our company is a provider of logistical services, our experience with the FTZ regime is that it allows local producers to access supplies previously not available. Also it allows them to bring foreign goods to Colombia generating a better cash flow to address their economic compromises.

Additionally it is not enough simply to sign agreements without the support of the infrastructure in the region that allows a competitive operation. To have the option to locate in a FTZ with proper operational conditions such as warehouses, communications and services. This is very important and indispensable for companies to operate and grow.

  1. Factually, how can you benefit the region by establishing your operations in the FTZ?

Our company has more than 60 formally employed and 180 indirectly employed.

We are consumers of local services and supplies. We maintain our growth rate allowing us to grow our infrastructure and enlarge our plant enabling us to cater for national suppliers.

  1. What projects are you actually developing from the FTZ?

For 2017 we have high expectations. The logistical requirements provided by consultants are each time more important for the company´s development, in this way the company will be able to dedicate its resources to the productivity and commercial management.

The projects that we have been developing will allow us to grow the operation by 40% with regards to the turnover of cargo.

To address this demand we have carried out an investment plan that started early and we hope to finish at the end of 2017.
